I used to cut trees professionally. That was a few years back. I LOVED the
Poulan Super 25AV back then. I just bought some property and dusted off my spurs and am working hard to get the trees in shape- it's time for a real climbing saw. So which is best-

the Stihl 200t or the Husky 338XPT? I know this has been covered but there seem to have been some improvements in the husky and I want to buy the right one.

Thanks for any and all input!

Husky have just redesigned the 338xpt. Its got a new carb and a tighter fitting air filter cover and they've up it to 39cc stock like the 338xpt california. They've changed the chainbreak/front hand guard too.

I still think 90% of people will say 200t/020T the rest will argue over the 335/338 and the 346. I do like my 020T but i'd really like to try a 338xpt i think the chainbreak looks better designed the rope attachment point is better and i think the blance is a bit better.

338

Norwalk Power equipment Company is selling the 338 as a 45 CC version
(they are shipping the california version to tennessee) for $399 with 2 extra chains- that's the one I'm looking at. That's alot of power if it runs right.

go to www.npec.com to see it- shipping is only like $12

i have a saw to sell

hey buddy if you are interested i have a saw to sell its is a stihl 020t its been used often but still runs like a champ, it has a 12"bar and i can give you 2 new chains with it, if you are interested make me an offer [email protected]

I have a couple 335 Calis, also 45 cc. They have too much displacement for their port and carb size and thus seem to have no more power than the 35 cc 335. They are torquey, however. Mod the muffler, then they'll cut alright, about on a par with a 200T. Stock they are pretty underpowered, though. I still prefer the old 335...as my 338 is also underwhelming and it has been fully modded.

Thanks for the offer A&A but I think I'm going to go with a new saw.
From what I have been hearing, the Stihl 200T sounds like the way to go

- I guess you get what you pay for.

I really like my Husky 394XP- had it for over 10 years and never had to do anything but change the air and fuel filter. I wonder why they can't get it
right on a climber?

I think I am going to drop the $499 on a 200T with the 14" ultralite bar and not look back.

I bought a new MS200 just for casual use. It is a great little saw. A little pricey but it works great and cuts with more power than I had anticipated. You won't regret it!

I'm sold on the pro saws. After buying the 200T- I was so impressed that I went and traded my MS 310 and an 009L for an MS 361. You're right- they are a little pricey, but I think you get what you pay for in this instance.

there has been a string of craftsman saws on here, so I'll route for the underdawg, go-go craftsman 40cc
:greenchainsaw: :greenchainsaw:

You know what I say? More power to the people- if a Craftsman is your thing, then go for it and be happy!!!!! Diversity is what makes the world go round.

I personally think you pullin' a chain from your list of saws- did'n see a one them 40cc'ers in there bro... :greenchainsaw:
