Firest and foremost its not a horsechestnut. IOt is located in Jamaica Plain (Boston) Zone 6-7ish. The tree is multi stemmed, has shiny6 silvery bark that has furrows running horizontally and vertically almost checkering the tree. THe red is due to our drought, it wasnt red a few days ago.

perhaps a buckeye? would be my guess, red buckeye probably!!(aesculus pavia).

LXT.............

Those twigs look alot like Horsechestnut. Very stout. If you swear its not a Horsechestnut than it could be a Buckeye......havent seen very many in this region though, it must be a planted specimen.

buckeye.... had them in my face all day on monday

But which buckeye, there are several Aesculus with the common name. Yellow, ohio, California (well, ok, that one is porbably not in MassA2chits) and others native to the ConUS, and dozens of non native, x-hybrids and named var's

Might as well say pin and black oak are red oaks ;)

I was just starting to like you JPS.............:buttkick:

Anyway. Being that Jamaica Plain is home to one of the best Arboretums in the world I think it is fair to say it could be almost any of the Aesculus genus' including Aesculus californica. Tough to tell from leaves and twigs alone though.

I hope you are taking advantage of the Arnold while you are in the greatest City in the world THill, lots of good stuff to see and learn while you are here!

I heard one about TaxA2Chits, cuz they stick you for every other one you make  or is that because you've got so much to pay for the big hole...err...dig since the feds only paid for most of it

Oh gee, I'm going way off topic, better quit before I have to ban myself.

I'd be jealous too, If I lived in a fly-over state with a pro baseball team that couldn't beat most little league teams.:hmm3grin2orange: oh wait you still have "The Pack":help: ;)

Arnold

Although th pic wasnt taken at the arboretum, it was on a side street in JP, in a dog park... You'll find alot of cool trees in the neighborhoods around here, mostly due to the diversity in the arboretum. They still have plant sales and of course the birds and wind do their thing............

Eww baseball, we have to pay for that stadium that no-one wants to go to:rolleyes: unless Chicago is playing, then it sells out because that is the only way the FIB's can get tickets to watch a game.

The pack? I think the rabid fans are more interesting to watch, nekid in the rain:cheers:
