what happened to the sticky about the new tree care magazine?

Too many people complaining about being quoted in it. We are currently compiling a list of users who DO NOT want their posts included in the mag. The thread is located in the off the topic forum. THIS thread would be a great place to ask questions about the magazine and hopefully be answered by someone at the magazine.

Ok, first question, why not use or handles or our names with our quotes?
Second: Why not ask us first?
Third: Why havent yall spoken up on this matter instead of leaving darin and jen to take all the heat?

When do I get the copy I requested???? I went to the link in the post, entered my info and now seems people except me have a copy as they are ?????ing about being quoted or not.

I even dumped the man a private email which was never replied to.

I don't see how a person would consent to be blindly quoted without first being notified.

Nick, I know that a bunch of us are peeved about site rules and copyright issues but detach yourself from that briefly. Look at the context of the threaded excerpts in the magazine. The whole point is to show that there are a bunch of real guys with real knowledge and opinions on a web forum-why not check it out. Which would you prefer? A. To be quoted accurately in such a context. or B. To have someone say "Some guy on the internet says he likes spliced eyes.". So long as you post on the internet you cannot control B.-And things could get way off from what you actually say. A. is harmless-you already made your opinion available to the entire world if they care to look. The fact that it appears in a magazine just disseminates things a bit further and might possibly make you seem "cool". :angel:

But how is the world going to know how cool Nick is without his name there alongside the quote?

When I was in kindergarten, around '59, my Mom took me down to the school playground because there was some event. I was sitting in the sandbox playing and a guy from the TV news asked Mom if he could film me. She said fine and found that the clip was going to be on the evening news. This was really cool. She got on the phone and let all of the friends and family know. Mom and Dad let me stay up late to watch the news. Of course, being five, I fell asleep and never saw the clip. But it was pretty cool to be able to tell friends that I was on TV. How do you think my folks would have felt if they were up watching the news and say my mug without the TV guy getting permission? I know my Dad and Mom, they would have been ticked!

It looks like free advertising to me. The company gets a link here and the Johnsons get a 2 page add in the magazine.
