What do you guys think of the tree pulling kit that Sherrill's offering in their new catalog? (page 45).

I have seen the setup used by ArborMaster to generate MA in pulling over trees, but personally I use the Maasdam Rope Puller with a 1/2" Sampson Tree-Master line. It is a lot cheaper, and quicker setup plus it generates a lot more MA.

ummmm benerally more people can pull a pulley system for 5:1 input than can crank arm of Maasdam.

Maasdam is pretty slow too. The Sherrill system is a lil pricey; though that is for bearing not bushing pulleys for best efficiency; and both sets are dual bearings and prussik minding pulleys. i'm not sure that prussik minding pulleys are needed, even for prussik use; surely wouldn't need 2 prusik minding pulleys, that cost 2x as much as dual pulleys w/bearings and 2"sheaves(same relative efficiency) that aren't prusik minding type.

If 1 man is using 5x rig pictured, and has it spread wide, can pull bitter end to get 5x from R.Hand, and pull next strand on anchored pulley to get 3x in L.hand. If that is equal and opposite the R.Hand pull (compressing them together); that is 8x the R.Hand pull.

For any small pull a Z rig will work fine, I know a number of people who have made their own and dedicate the pullies and ropes, using a prussik or klem'hitch to attatch to the rigging line.

Of course I prefer the GRCS ;)
