Now this is a character tree :) This tree was "bent" over on a job I was working on the other day.

Pic does not do it any justice...way better in person, anyhow, I had to share.

looks like a live stump. new cambium starts growing over the cut, neat thing to see when you find larger stumps 3 to 4 feet like that

That might have been a "come see this" and a smoke break for a timber marking crew. Had they come upon it that is.

It was definitely a "come see this" for all of us working there:) We were burning brush piles so it is nice to get some humor in every now and again...at least that is what I think...those guys that I am working with are probably gettin sick of me by now.

Lol! I recognize those pants in the background. You should have seen it when somebody found an old beer bottle, that's all I'm gonna say. I told my wife about that one, now that's she's seen the picture, she's even less impressed - Sam

Lol...
I contracted to a company a while back that the project manager found a crotch that look so female that he saved it and bought a thong for it and rode it around in his truck. It was hilarious!
He even named it.

Found a similar "live" stump awhile back. Peeled the bark off to find the most gorgeous burl-wood underneath. Cut the whole thing off and brought it home. It's still here, and I still don't know what to do with it, but it's a nice looking piece of wood, so I guess that's good enough.

Interesting White Oak where I grew up

A college here in NY owns a forest that joins the properties of West Point. This tree is affectionately known as the "Wang Tree" by everyone who visits the forest for obvious reasons. :)
