I have a lease on a piece of land to clean up the tops that were cut by a logging company. Went out there today to get a good look at the land and lay of the wood. Theres an S.O.B out there with 2 tandem axle trailers and a log splitter and he's set up shop on this private property. I called the land owner and he has given no one permission to cut or take any wood from his land. This guy/guys are steeling MY wood. Whats my recourse?? before I lose my cool and do something stupid...thanks...Lee

With the landowner behind you, ask the fellow to leave. If he doesn't, call the local law. Ron

Landowners aren't always honest (sorry to say). With CONTRACT IN HAND, call law enforcement. In WA, timber theft carries a triple stumpage value penalty. MI should have a similar law. You bought it, you need to be the one compensated.

Yep, and while you're at it, make him load up the truck and trailer with that split wood for you too. :)

I can tell ya talking about it onlines not going to help. Why didn't you do something in the first place?

I left him/them a nasty note the day I found out they were out there, gave him a cpl days to vacate the property without penalty. I'm not a bad guy and believe in giving them a chance, past that he might lose his trailers and splitter if I have my way, noine of it is secured in any way and he is on private property and trespassing.

That is exactly what I would do...

If he don't get his #### out on the morning of the second day, take it all home. :) Free trailers, splitter, and firewood!! Talk about a nice haul...

Shoot first ask later. See the nice thing about MI, upper and lower, is that a large deep body of water is never far away. OR you could call the cops and try and do the right thing.

Sounds like you got some personal experience in this department... :msp_sneaky:

It is true, there probably are lots of dead bodies at the bottom of all of these lakes.

Me? No, I never really cared for the water but a pig farm on the other hand.
