Not a chainsaw but I know someone out there can help me. After years of faithful service , yesterday my echo PB 210E quit suddenly. No spark at the plug when cranked, even with a new plug. I isolated the on/off switch and checked it with an ohmmeter; it is fine. Nothing wrong with the plug wire. Air gap at the exciter/flywheel is one business card thickness and everything there is clean and bright. So I am thinking it is either the exciter coil or the CDI module, neither of which is inexpensive. How can I narrow this down between the 2 components......how can I check them out? Thanks for your time!

opnwide: I too have the PB210E. Now what you're describing reminds me of a problem I had several years back with my Husky 55 R: Quit suddenly, didn't seem to have spark, compression good etc. Eventually had a husky mechanic look at it and...turns out the fuel line came off the carb. I never smelled gas
so it was news to me. Felt sort of foolish that something so simple kept the saw on the shelf so long.
