Think about it for a bit, then build your own. That way it's exactly what you need and how you want it set up. I have studs and wing nuts in the lid to hold bars, and box built just to hold chain and chain tools, dividers to keep saws secure as possible when they aren't just put in t he back. Got a side box that holds the gypo jugs and a five gallon bucket of bar oil. Heck I got a rack out the top back that will hold a big long chain and tow rope, tire chains in the winter, and the occasional wrapper or what have you that is found on the way in and out.

Think on it for a while and the get to building. Better than a cookie cutter store box that doesn't work well enough for anything. If you build your own it will be a damn sight less likely to become a garbage can also, cause everything will have a spot, it won't be just and empty hole.

Seal it up goooood. Lots of oil base poly, it's tough stuff and will last a good long while.

Yeah been leaning that way. Lets see some pics if you have any, wouldn't mind some inspiration.

I got Weatherguard single lid crossover box and 2 4' side boxes.

Protech makes the best toolboxes I have ever seen for a pickup. Not cheap though.

Sometimes you can find a deal on a used JOBOX type of box, made of steel and easy to customize. Very weather and theft proof.

I am currently running a cheapo crossbox, weatherguard innerside boxes and a jobox in the middle. And it still takes a long time to get all the crap packed up!

So here is my problem. It kept me from making a box. Without drilling holes in the bed of the pickup, how do you keep the box from getting stolen? I was thinking of a kind of a turnbuckle type deal only instead of tightening wires, it would expand some type of a contraption snug against the bed walls and under the rail cap overhang.

Ideas??

they make something like that for holding those canopy things on, Should be able to make it fit for a tool box? Might have to whack some holes in the tool box to get the clamps in place...

A lot of Weatherguard boxes just clamp on. I chose to drill mine anyway.

For my JOBOX, I made brackets with studs, welded those on, and bolted the box to them. It is currently easily removable (with a forklift!), but could quickly be made very unremovable.

I guess if you don't want to drill holes in your truck bed, you probably wouldn't want to weld it either, huh...

If you custom made a wooden box, you could just make it so it fits VERY snug. And use some kind of concealed clamps...?

HP in Oregon, just put a slider in my p/u so i can leave the canopy on and keep stuff out of the weather and locked up. Not mine but you get the idea. comes in 1 ton or 2 ton, I can tell you they work well.PICKUP TRUCK BED SLIDE OUT CARGO TRAYS | CAMPER SHELL | BED EXTENDER | TRUCK BED SLIDE | TRUCK BED CAPS | CARGO TRAYS great boxes also.
