Just replaced my 35 year old Dyna 400 truck with a 1999 Isuzu NPR 400 in good condition. It has a chip bin, but it's too long in length and too short in height so I'm going to be cutting and welding and adding all the custom toolboxes from my old truck and putting one of those roller curtains on the roof.

I'm planning to hold on to this truck for some years to come, so I'd like to setup the bin and toolboxes to be nice to work with. I've got 3 custom toolboxes; one large one between cab and bin with shelves for all my saws, climbing and rigging, ropes and friction drum, and 2 under body toolboxes that hold fuel, wedges, blowers, poison, helmets etc etc. I'm thinking of making another toolbox to hold blowers. Rakes slide in between bin and cab. My jameson poles were in a big PVC pipe mounted up inside the bin under the roof on the old truck, which was a bit of a pain. I'm thinking maybe a steel storage compartment with a seperate door in the bottom of the bin for jameson poles and pole saws.

I'd love to see pics of any nice details you have on your own truck, or have seen on anyone elses. I'm mostly looking for clever ways of storing things like pole saws, fuel, witches hats etc. Can't find a good place to mount a vice on mine either. In return I promise to post a blow by blow of how it all comes together over the next few weeks. I want to get it right before I send it off to be painted.

That's kind of similar to my truck, I'll post some pics tomorrow. I think the bin is a little smaller than what I'm going for, and my main tollbox is a little smaller also but I've got a coupe underbody ones as well. Would be nice to have the $$$ for aluminum bin, but I'm pretty squarely in steel land. I did see a used wood chip bin that looked tidy, aluminum and from a similar truck to mine. Even used, the guy wanted $7000 for it. Must be less than 1/4 of the weight of mine though.

Nice idea on the ply storage!
