trying to decide on a new climbing saw 200t, 192t, 338xpt

i recently saw the new stihl 192t at a local dealer but he wasnt much help (i could tell he had no clue about the saw). i have worked with the 020t and the 200t and love them. also have worked with the echo climbing saw but now ready to upgrade to a better saw. wondering if anybody has any imput about the 192t or about the husky 338xpt, i have never used either? whats the best saw to you???? any input is appreciated.

Altho subjective, I have to agree.
Here is why;
The Husky climbing saws have had alot of trouble from the get go. Poor idleling, weak low end torque.
I also dont like the 'ergonomic' thumb rest which actually shifts your wrist downwards into a weaker position.
Huskys run at a faster speed but with less torque. The Stihls run slower but with more torque.
I also understand the Huskys have one piston ring while the Stihls have two.
A bullet proof saw is still the ms200. A bit heavier but really alot of power and reliability for the price. Some say they are too expensive, I say compare the price of the saw to two or three jobs. It will pay for itself over and over.
The new 192T is a lighter saw, I will buy at least two of them when they are avail. here in CA. I got to use a demo one and like it alot. BUT it is weaker, you might want to look at the new Echos as well. I think they are heavier than the 192T but not by much

This has come up here before-the ms200t (o2o) is the favorite by a long way, every saw I run is a Husky but for my ms200.

Take the ms200T. Has 2.3hp where the 192T has only 1.8hp

Weight wise the ms200T is only 1lb heavier, which frankly is not worth worrying about.

MS200T's run at 13500 rpm, Husky 338 runs at 13800 rpm ... no big difference. But no-one gives you torque figures and that's where Stihl's are great.

I assure you that the Stihl ms200T will out live and out perform that Husky. It's built better and tougher .. and runs like a dream. (I find those husky's temperamental)

.. plus a simple little muffler mod will make it kick butt, we just take the baffle/gauze thing out ... a little louder but they love it (got muffs on anyway).

Gotta get yaself one, or pretend the rest of ya life that ya got one ...

The 192's still use the same $%#@ chain as the 019's and 191's. That stuff costs an arm a leg and doesn't last very long (top plate too thin). It's the same chain as the stihl pole saw uses.

Stick with the 020T / 200T. Though I dislike the new oil / gas caps of the 200T, it's still better than the alternatives. The oil cap on my 260 pro constantly leaks when the saw sits for a while.

I tried out the 192 today, and I think it's gonna replace a lotta 200 purchases in the future. It had a lot more power than I thought it would have, and that was with a stock muffler.
I won't buy it cuz I'm made outta money, but for those of you out there who ain't it's gonna be a good 'lil saw, I predict.

I Ran my 192T all day today great saw once you get used to the choke on the side of the saw instead of on the handle.
