Tuned Pipe Horn Exponent?

Just pondering some tuned pipe theroy and wondering if any one can fill me in on the horn exponent component?

It seems that a higher horn exponent in a 2 or more stage pipe has a bit lower pipe volume, but asides form that does it play a role in power band charichteristics?
