I just installed a older style muffler on my 460 so I would get better flow. Do I need to adjust my carb. Right now the H is all the way counter clockwise. Been like that since new. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I removed the cover so I could get to the carb and the H and L are both red knobs that I can't figure how to remove. They are flush with the carb. Do I need to pull apart the carb or what?

Those red knobs are the limoter caps. They pull right off if the screws are turned counter clockwise until the little tab on the limiter cap lines up with a slot in the carb. Stihl makes a tool with lefthand threads to make this easy but it is possible without the tool. Put a screwdriver in the slot in the cap and turn it until you can see the tab in the slot in carb body. Take a needle and lodge it in the slot to keep the cap from turning to the right, drive a small sheet metal screw into the center of the cap. When you think you have a good bite on the cap grab it with pliers and pull it straight off. If you were closer I would lend you the tool.
