I've got a couple bottles of the regular Stihl stuff to use up and then back to 2T for me. I asked if they could get the "Ultra" in quarts and the answer was no. They need to bottle it like the Wal-mart "Tech 2000" in the squeeze measuring bottle thingy.

Why don't you come in quarts Ultra? (NO, don't answer that.)

Ultra oil is available in:
2.6oz
5.2oz
6.4oz
12.8oz
1 Gallon
5 Gallon

Whats the quart for? You mix up 25 gallons at a time?

Haywire, you've used ultra and 2T both? How do they compare for your use?

I agree with the quarts, you pay a lot more for those little plastic bottles.

No, I haven't used the Ultra, my dealer only had the little bottles. When I run out of the orange bottles I may try it. The only thing I didn't like about the 2T is that they don't put enough dye in it to make it starkly different from straight gas. I like that the stihl oil really changes the color.

Ha ha ha ha,,,,

Since it 's only a dollar more per 6-pack than the orange-bottle HP dino at my local shop, I'm on the bandwagon too.

I dunno if I miss the stank & smoke... For 35 years that has been a part of the two-stroke deal! It means you are running Manly things! Momma smells of baking when dad and the boys come home smelling of work outdoors.

I like that XJ,,,, I can definitly relate to that,,,,, Good Post!!!!

Somebody rep him for me,,,,,, I tried,,,, but Im toast:bang: :bang: :bang:

I had to buy 6 little bottles when I stopped to see Tom. None of my dealers stock it because it "costs" too much. I do like the no smoke and less smell. It did help my slooooow 440 though;)

Switched to Ultra on my 066 last year

I would estimate close to 400 hrs on this topend,,,,in the last year flush cutting stumps, some falling and bucking, but mostly,,, flush cutting stumps with a 30 or a 36" bar The carbon stain you see in the cylinder's combustion chamber was there from the previous original piston and looks worse than it is....plus I mix @ 40:1 so its a bit thick,,,I pulled this unit down because the Clutch side seal got wiped and the saw wouldnt run on it's side,,,got to looking and the bearings were about shot also so I changed them all out plus new seals and woods ported the cylinder while I had it scattered,,,,finally Put it all back together today:rock: even at 40 :1 it smokes a little but not bad,,,,The big plus I see is the reduction of Carbon,,,,,,!

the internals/bearings were just dripping with oil and the rings were very clean, this stuff really lubricates good,,,, (I had brought it home with a red rag over piston and crank and it soaked the oil up before I thought about pix) the Stihl tech that I'm training under,,was there when I pulled it down and he knows the abuse my work saws live under,,,,when He looked at the internals He called the store Manager over and showed it to him,,,Well they rent all sorts of two stroke equipment Concrete cutters, chain saws, string trimmers, blowers,, Including the largest hand held Brushcutter sTiHl makes 353 SG or something like that,,,they immediately switched to Ultra in all their rental stuff!!!!! when you rent a two stroker from them,,,, the ultra fuel mix comes with it,,,,,

And Thats no BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive also switched to the Stihl syn oil and have noticed some RPM increase at idle,Also happy with the results so far, exhaust oily deposits about gone, especially from my line trimmer, which runs at half throttle a lot.

I am sure glad to hear the continued positive responses. I bought a case (48) of the one gallon bottles a couple of weeks ago and just got to it this past Friday. I had a little of the Stihl dino mix to finish up before I got to the "good" stuff.

I do have about half a bottle of Opti that's been sitting on the shelf a while. Ever since I joined this site, actually.

Here is MSRP on CASES of Ultra Oil.

I'll dig into it further but I think (I'll need to confirm)) the JASCO rating were mostly concerned with visible smoke, and not the other qualities.
Thats not true at all. The JASO and ISO are a series of tests, only one of which measures visable smoke.
I have been using Ultra for several months in my Redmax 8000 strato- charged blower. The machine uses about 1.5 gallons of fuel per week from May 1 through the end of Aug. So far I am pretty impressed.
I have also used it a small amount in a 372 and a 346. Seems to be light years ahead of Stihl orange bottle.
It is spendy and only time will tell if it is as good as my old standby from Mobil.
One thing I dont care for is the smell. The fuel stabiliser has a nasty odor IMO.

I would like to use the ultra oil but not sure if hardware stores near property sell the stuff and have on hand all the time.
Dealer has initially used orange bottle oil in mix, so when I switch to synthetic do I have to run the gas tank dry first or can I just add the synthetic mix to the regular oil mix.
At this time I do not plan to change ratios from 50:1, and with gas prices fluctuating between $3.10-$3.70 for midgrade 89 octane:eek: is it better to run the premium at higher octane yet? I am only buying a few gal. at a time to last a week.

Ha

Cant get Stihl Ultra in Australia but i found some Mobil 1 Racing 2T at $70 for 4lt.
My question is what ratio do you mix it at 50:1,40:1 ?..........

What about saw warranty ?........

Do ya have to re-tune the saws ?.........

Cheers,

MS 260
MS 441

Just dump it in and keep cuttin'... ain't gonna hurt nothin'... as long as it's mixed at the same ratio.
