Hi to you all,
Recently I aquired a couple of old lengths of chain that I am not familier with.
Could anyone help identify them for me, ie; pitch, gauge, manufacturer, year, what used on etc.
The pitch appears to be slightly greater than 3/4", as the distance between three rivets seem over 1.5inches (more like 1 & 5/8ths.).

They came from an old Mill Site that was in operation during the 50/60's, since then there has been no operation. I know that many modern Harvesters run 3/4" but from this era it is unlikely, I also know that some of the older Diston's etc also ran 3/4".

I have been grinding out the rivets and having the links & teeth Gold plated (they look great).

I am new at posting here and not familiar with posting images so if they don't show up below in this message try the included attachments.
Thanks

Your pics show up fine,

I don't have a clue what that chain is, but I have to see a pic of one that you've gold plated

That first one looks like Mall 3/4" pitch chisel. I think they called it something like 3/8 planer or something like that. take a look at Mike Acre's site to see what you can match it up to.

Wow!

Feedback in less than five min's, seems like this is the place to monitor industry chatter.

O.K Scott here's a couple of quickie shots for you, I would like to mount them eventualy and and possibly market them in various options. I did cut myself a 12" length and had that gold plated.... boy o'h boy did THAT look good. But a dear friend took a fancy to it.

"Sidewalk Climber" Thanks.... Do you hapen to have the link to Mike Acre's site? and thanks for your info, that will give me a start.

Holy, wow. If you're selling I'd be interested in one of those too.

Well I have been through every chain listed at Mike Acre's site and have not come up with an exact match.

It's that second chain (the one with the "J" stamped on the cutter) that really baffles me. The Depth Guages are part of the Drive link and NOT on the cutter or Tie strap. Also The Tie strap is not indented for the sprocket. Notice the extended lip rear of the cutter.
Going by other designs I am thinking it must be around 1946/50's.

H'mmmmm... good homework project.
