Well, I went out cutting Saturday morning with my newly aquired 026 (that I only paid $140 for) and a 18" Carlton bar and chain combo that I got from Bailey's. First off the wood that I was cutting was Walnut and Ash. The walnut was anywhere from 10"-14" and the ash was 14"-17". When I first fired up the saw it just seemed a little rich to me. By ear the RPM's sounded real low and the saw seemed underpowered and smoked a lot. I noticed that the H screw was out a lot. So I turned it in about 1/4-1/2 turn and hit the throttle, and man she perked right up. I turned in the H L screw in just a hair and uped the idle and now she was hummin'. I would like to put it in on a tach to see how fast its running. ( don't want to go to fast and burn up my big investment.) In the wood the saw performed great. One thing I like about it is when I had it deep in the ash, alsmost buried, it didn't loose power. It ate and ate and ate and the RPM's stayed right up. Now I will admit, that the 026 may not be as fast as say a 346xp, but it is a very durable and light weight saw and seems to have a lot of torque and seems to be more forgiving in the power band. This saw is extremely clean, I couldn't believe that I got it for only $140. I will try and post pics and video later.

Now on the the bar and chain. I was really pleased with the bar and chain. For $20 it can't be beat IMHO. The chain cut really well and stayed sharp throughout the day. But only time will tell how long they will last. Plus I haven't put a file to the chain yet so I can't say how well it will sharpen. But I will say that if anyone is dabating on weather or not to get one of these combos I think it is well worth the money. All in all I am pleased with a quality saw that I only have $160 in total.

Great report! You got a heck of a deal - $160 for that combo is a great price! Just think, the Craftsman/Poulan saw is like $250 new, and city slickers buy them up because it says 'Craftsman' so it must be good!

Yeah I was just looking on e-bay and saw it. I asked the guy what he would take for it out the door and I fell on the floor when he replied $140. Sometimes deals come around.

I feel stupid, I just realized that I spelled update wrong in the title. Oh well just add it to the list of the million other words I mis-spell.
