Got some of the windows and most of the outside skinned this weekend. Price of wood is crazy high.

What are you gonna use for siding? I was thinking I was about to build one but the smart board for siding was going to cost $1,200 for an 8x12

Well I have more money in this small building than I do a much larger equipment shed I build two years ago. I have some recycled metal siding that I may put up or I’ll just put a heavy coat of paint on it. The decisions as end product depends on the cost as I would have to buy all the corners and end caps for the metal siding.

Yeah no kidding. I’m kicking myself for putting off building this. Now my garage is half full of drying milled wood and I barely have any room to work.
Considering just buying a 10x20 shipping container now. Literally cheaper than what I need to build a smaller kiln and the all steel walls get plenty hot where I’m at

Looking good!

Suggestion - try and avoid starting a new thread for closely related posts. A thread containing all the posts about how you put together a Kiln will be much more useful that a whole bunch of separate threads which will all get lost meaning no one will be able to see the sequence of the build.

Got two more windows in today. They are not optimum but they were cheap. 24x85 times 2 for 30 bucks. It was defused glass but I think it works pretty good fromView attachment 968926 what I felt while putting them in. Will finish off the top soon.

I’m happy that I have very little to buy to finish this one off. I would like to make a wood working shop but at this point I may just go all metal construction. It maybe cheaper than wood structure.
