I've been thinking a lot lately about weather or not to get a bigger stumper. I have a vermeer sc 252 w/ green teeth. I usually try to keep the stumps I do under 5' in dia. Is the extra 10 hp worth it?? Or maybe I invest somewhere else.

No.

You have a girl's name-:laugh::laugh:, just joking,
Do you mean 5' or 5". If you mean 5', then heck yeah a bigger one is better. Unless you charge the stump by the hour and use a 'sc252. We don't even own one, won't. A Dosko self propelled is way better and quicker than a sc252. Our work-hourse is a 672.
Jeff ;)

I'd like to see you put your dosko up against a 252 and be "way better and quicker". Why don't you contact Plyscamp down there and do a duel between the two. Would like to see the video of that Dosko getting blown away, you sweating up a storm workin the handles off that thing while Gordy moves a couple levers back and forth....

I'm sure the Dosko is plenty fine, but seriously, same size engine, right? Way faster to have to pivot that thing than using a hydraulic lever? Send us the video....

Yea,I'm with Stumper on this one .I've owned and used both[not self propelled though].My first was a dosko and I was so excited when I finally got it ,but the excitement wore off very quickly.
Sold that biotch two months later.

Sure the 252 is no super stumper ,but at least it's hydro.

Depends on what ''it'' is? How much $$$$$???

Put a 38 horse on it and call it done or you better soak some serious cash into your new investment.

I've always liked that johnny Cash " boy named sue song" :msp_thumbup:
And yes 5' or 60". I usually charge by the inch, but I'm learning to charge by the hr on bigger stuff.

Well, I did not know you are a girl. The Dosko with a Man behind it would rip apart a sc252.
Sorry lady,Jeff

Then man up and call Gordy for the duel if you're so sure. If you can outgrind his 252 then I stand corrected.

Self-propelled doesn't grind the stump any faster, helps get you to it but after that it's of no value. You can work harder all you want, but for the rest of us we'll work smarter and move on to the next job while you're dancing with your dosko. Don't forget to bow when you finally get done....

You're not really taking Jeff seriously are you?? ;)

Mornin Jeff...

Doesn't any here have a 352? I know the 252 popular but let's hear from a 352 owner. Or any other stump grinders that are 35 hp and self propelled. Could I drive them on my dump trailer like I can with mine now.

I have a vermeer 352 and i love it. I used to use a 252 and there is a very big difference in speed and performance, but with that being said there is also a big difference in price. I have a dump trailer right now that I use to haul the grinder and it works fine but it would be much easier to load/unload with a lower trailer. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.
