Yes. I guess i need to prioritize the plan, as I'm passing the hat for materials. 1. fix lightning system 2. prune 2 sprawling ends that are not cabled, 3. improve soil south side, 4. remove broken cables, 5 remove pines. ?
yeah dave i think i know who put em in and he was a friend. Anyway diplomacy draws more good attention than hand grenades.

What kind of time frame is there on repairing a tree like this? Not in the sense of work but how long will it take it to return to what it one was or will it?

It'll never regain its former dimensions, but it doesn't need to; trees naturally grow downward (condense in form) with age. As tv notes, they repair themselves, by developing a smaller crown. The objective is 1 life extension and 2 maintaining or increasing height, girth and spread so it stays a champ. The owner is proud of that status, but still not keen to open the wallet too wide. yet.
Most of the crown loss looks anthropogenic; whacko pruning decisions, overly tight cables causing breakage, etc.

I'm about a hour an a half from Brunswick. I actually live in gates nc just moved. I'd be interested in helping you out depending on when you are doing the work it would be great to just learn. I'm booked for the next month on weekends and still have a 9-5 but let me know when you are doing this.
