i THINK, dont hold me to it but all the stuff trimmers, blowers, and all but the 088 and maybe the 066 are made here at the beech, seems like i remember the 066 being picked up here too..

I may also be wrong but MS 440 and above are all Stihl made in Germany.

I recall seeing a relatively new TS 760 that was made in Brazil. same for my 038, but thats irrelavant.

They said every model except the CS 8000 and the QV 8000 are made here in the states. There are just not enough sales of these models to make them here.
Is this something echo recently started doing?

I bought a CS 670 a year ago and it states made in Japan on it. So does my CS 510 bought 3 years ago. I have not look at where the new CS 520 is being made.

I think we might need some help from Stihl-tech or Glens to sort this out!

What about the 361? Mine is definately made in Germany - do they make them at Virginia beach too?

Both my 036, and an MS361 I have on the truck, had/have indication they were "Manufactured by STIHL, INC., USA. with domestic and foreign components".

I don't claim to be anywhere near the same league as stihltech on this stuff, but thanks.

:) Thank you Glens, I suspected something like that.

Then I think it is up to Tony do define how "purely" USA made a saw has to be to qualify.

By the way, since I posted about the Poulan Pro 475 and 505 earlier in this tread, I have been informed that something like that was the case with those saws too. :blob2:

That is what I was told at this years school that they are being made in Ill.

As I recall, the following older Stihl chainsaw models is still made, but not necessarily sold, in Brazil:

-08S
-070 (In sale in Mexico only?)
-051
-076 (In sale in Mexico only?)

Possibly also 038/380, 064/640 and 090. Does anyone know more about this?

my real definition is a saw that put some fella in this country to work.. then it would be nice if the profits an such stayed stateside..guess im just ol;d school .. but the ever increasing out flo of wealth from this country to china etc.. kinda worries me..300 bilion last yr.. wealth is power in the end.. im not sure china will be as restrained as this county has been .. this country has in fact had the power to impose itself with military power on the world for some time..
its the only country in history ,that i know of .. that didnt use this power to conquer..instead this country tries to bolster representative government when an where it can..not white washing us ,theres been wrong done at times but ,not on the scale of any other country in history that ever had this power.. jmo..
