where's a good place to start looking for used chip trucks? 1 ton, or 3/4 ton if it exists, with a dump box and some storage for a small outfit. I like the look of the japanese imports and there's lots around that dump and I can build a box, but can't find any with storage options. Any brokers/dealers on or near the coast that know about chip trucks?

Those right side drive imports look pretty deece for the money. Gear storage and building a box on the other hand...

Watch out for the city trucks at auctions, bartlett cycles their chip trucks pretty quick and try the trader. It might be worth your while to look into Washington.

If you are looking for something small there are quite a few 1-ton dually flatdecks out there. Dumps as well, but if it just a deck truck you could have a chip box made and have a ram/electric hydraulic unit installed.

I would get an older Chev/GMC. Easy and cheap to work on. Chips are real heavy. A 1-ton dually get full real fast.

thanks for the input - I'd rather not do too many modifications, but may have to on the right truck. I could put storage on one of these japanese diesels, but the storage would move with the dumper. No good for the gas cans especially. . . I like a little F350, 4x4, with a removable box, many benefits to a domestic for sure. . . I may talk to a broker and have them search it out for me so I have more time for hockey.
