used Stihl MS 460

I just bought a Stihl MS 460 and wounder is i paid to much, i bought it for $795.00. After receiving it it was real dirty
and will not start or run. I took it to the Stihl dealer and its going to cost me $137.00 to get it fixed. Should i have it
fixed or try to see if the seller will pay to have it fixed ?

Well... You asked, so I'll give you my opinion. Too much. Last 440 I bought was 400 bucks, started, ran, cut, and was pretty clean, too(use it most days to block wood. Nobody else is allowed to touch it!). $800 is fleabay pawn shop level pricing, in my opinion. Couple hundred more buys a brand new 461 with a warranty.

Now, did the dealer happen to mention exactly what was wrong? $137 seems pretty cheap with labor included, and high without labor. I just put new av mounts, clutch drum and an intake boot on a 200t for almost that in parts. Last carb I bought for a 460 was about $100. (Last 084 I bought was $800 plus shipping, cut out of the box after tuning. Older, yes, but still.)

My top dollar for a 460 would probably be about 500$ if it was clean and strong.

Sorry man, you got royally taken. Next time you want to buy a saw check in here first. There's always great stuff in the trading post. I'd much rather buy a saw from a reputable member here than pretty much anywhere else.

I don't expect it, but see if you can get your money back instead of paying for a repair. When that fails you should either pay to get it fixed or do it yourself. Did you ever run it before you bought it? I'm curious how you paid $795 for a non running saw. Also, what did the dealer say was wrong with it?

I ask, because if it did come from overland park, ks, well, you wouldn't be the only one to have issues with something from there. My first 084 came from there, turned out it had a cracked case, dumping bar oil into the crankcase. Sucks, but I didn't figure it out for months. In their description, there's some mumbo jumbo about once you've received it, it's your problem.

Yes it came for overland park and the add said start and runs good, No way it would after i received it. When i took the clutch drum off to
check the oil pump drive it was real dirty. Have been trying to contact them but will not answer. The 137 is parts and labor. I like the saw
just wish it would have run. O well i think after i will just have it fixed and chock it up to lessen learned. i have looked on here for a 77cc saw
but did not see one i could afford.

You're within the 30 day window. Just send it back. The saw is not "Great Running". eBay has your back, just open a request. Sellers can't refuse returns with those "I don't accept returns" comments.

If that's the saw, send it back!!! eBay definitely will cover your a$$. They are squarely in the buyer's corner in this sort of situation.

If you don't see anything in the trading post, post a wanted ad. There's been several very nice 372s on here lately. 75ccs.

Ouch!! Thats a real sucky predicament you got into. I sold my mint 441 with a new 20" and a 36" bar and chains with HD filter large dual spikes for $650. I agree with the others that to return it but now you just repaired his NON running saw so question: you get your money back for the saw $795,
then you paid return shipping (say 60-$100) i dont know the setup. And you paid for the repair. $137 so your be out say $240 to round it off? Thats an expensive lesson. Maybe the seller will pay the repair and refund some on top to save himself any troubles?? Maybe not? Lol

I think there's only one recent 460 sold may 7 for 795 on ebay. I don't even look at their junk anymore.

Gargling around about this guy, you quickly feel the need to take a shower. LLC started up this year flipping saws. Part time realtor/saw flipper, so you be the judge if you want to do business with him. Do your homework.

Well realtor/flipper to me dont matter BUT a little bit of a fibber on the functioning of the saw is a BIG deal. Dealer, flipper...if your a liar your a liar at the end of the day.
