Need some advice. I have a chance to buy a Vermeer 625 brush chipper. It has a 25 hp Kohler gas engine and autofeed. Has about 600 hours on engine. Asking price is $5,500. Vermeer website says this will handle up to 6". That works for me. Machine is in very good to excellent condition.

Is this a good price for condition and hours? Any general feedback on this MAKE and MODEL of chipper will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks,
Tom

I have a Gravely 25hp Kohler with about 25 hours on it and will sell for $3000 in NJ. Never abused. I am selling this because I purchased a bandit 250.

I had a vemeer 625 chipper. It is ok for small items but is slow and underpowered. The little motor lives a hard life. My bussiness is small with just my partener and my self and I keep most of the hardwood trees for firewood,so the 625 was ok for me. If you are doing heavy volume on a regular schedule I would suggest a larger unit.Prices vary depending on condition. If the size(6") is ok, talk with a rentail store mechanic to check the average live of the engine. Good luck!

If it does not have autofeed I'd forget it. I've used one several times and they work great for small trim jobs, just hope you don't expect to be doing removals with that little machine or you'll be dealing with a lot of wood to haul off. I was very impressed with the machine due to the autofeed. You could stick a branch in and walk off, by the time you were there with the next it was ready. Kind of slow, but it will get the job done. Price sounds about right and 600hrs seems low. I see lots of those in rental yards, and we all know how rentals are treated, so they must be pretty strong machines.

too small unless you do only small brush jobs, 6'' material dailey will kill this machine.
