Vermeer 1400XL chute cracks

I own a 2004 Vermeer 1400XL brush chipper that is on it's second discharge chute due to cracks in the under side of the chute near the base. This time I made the repair and will see how long it last.

my 1230 did the same thing fix it in 1/2 inch plate tom trees

1/2 inch plate?????? its the chute thats cracked not the frame!! that part of the chute takes a beatin, reinforcing it will work and something that may need done every so often.

good luck on welding up 1/2plate in that area..LOL, not to mention the weight factor & stress that would be added to the rotation ring and chute hardware, oh heck just go with 1 inch plate instead...LOL!!

after 2 times it wont crack now tom trees

I am glad your not doing my repairs. I would have to buy a bigger truck to pull the chipper. :lifter:
