Hi.

Have a Vermeer BC1000XL Chipper that the lights (signal/brake/side) only work if the hitch is connected to the receiver (metal on metal). I get a spark when the hitch touches the receiver. I assume its not supposed to work this way. I have a pintle hitch so while I am driving the lights go on an off depending on whether its getting a good metal on metal connection.

I have a 7 point RV connector, but there is only 6 wires going into it. I assume the ground is the middle connector, but i dont think there is a wire going to that. Does anyone know which color the ground wire is?

Thanks!

John

Earth wire colour.

Hey,

With your earth issue you might have to run a separate earth wire to the chassis of the chipper, if memory serves me correct I think your earth wire is white.

Hope this helps

I'm looking at my manual and It looks like the ground is white. WH is marked with a G. I could mail you the page if that helps. There is a ground connection under the machine I have seen as well. Good luck..... Mike

Hi.

Thanks. Its working great now. Had the white wire in the wrong position. Because I converted it from a 6-pin to 7 pin, all the colors dont match up with what is usually used on the 7-pin (no black wire too). Moved the white and the red to where the white was and all is working!

Thanks again!!

Nah your ground is a heavy white wire always at the twelve o'clock position on the plug the center is electric brakes, eleven o'clock and one are running lights and 5and7 are left and right turn check your truck ground sounds like theres something broke
