Hello, got my chipper rebuilt finally and was wondering what rpm to run this perkins turbo 115hp at? Full throttle or 3/4? Thanks

With the exception of a brief warm up and cool down period, industrial engines are designed to run full throttle, full load, all day, every day. It won't hurt it to run it less than full rpm unless you are lugging the engine.

The engine should be governed to its optimum operating speed, which is usually where it should be run. Many chippers won't work at all if not at full throttle, and even if it does it won't work well. It has to be running at speed to chip and discharge properly.

I don't have a working tach on the machine but I do own a strobe light and can tune into the rpm of anything rotating. Do you guys know what rpm the pto sheave is supposed to spin or maybe even what the disc speed is supposed to be?
