I have a new to me s600tx mini skid. The engine has recently given to shutting off at inopportune times. Unit will usually re-fire with no trouble. Occasionally I have to let it sit for a few moments before restarting. Any suggestions as to where I should start before I take it in at shop rates? Fingers crossed for an easy fix!

I was thinking the same thing as top builder. I rented a stupid bluebird walk behind grinder from home depot to complete a tight stump job on a hill. I got it to the job and thought something was wrong because it kept shutting off. Come to find out it has some sort of tip sensor that kept shutting the motor down because I was on the hill.

Perhaps the mini skid has something like that and it is going bad?

My super would shut down by itself. Drove me crazy. Sometimes in the middle of a cut, sometimes when on the way back to the trailer. I finally figured out it was the safety switch that makes sure you cannot have the drive wheel engaged unless the control panel is in its out position. I tweaked the spring clip with a needle nose pliers and have not had a problem since.
For every safety system there is a way to bypass it. I'm not saying to operate in an unsafe condition. Just know what to do or make the appropriate jumper and have it with you. Nothing worse than breaking down on the job and having to leave the machine over night.
