I need help!!!!!!!!!!! I just purchased a 2003 Vermeer sc50tx stump grinder and when I start it up the left track automatically starts going in reverse real slow.I have been grinding stumps for 19 years but I am new to this machine... PLEASE HELP!!!!

shouldn't be too hard to work that out.... hydraulic systems on grinders are pretty straight forward. My guess is a leaving control valve. Trace the hose for the left side hydraulic drive back to the control valve, try swapping the left/right hoses at the bank if you can. If you do, and the right track now goes in reverse slowly you need a new valve.

I think it could be a sign of the pump going out. Chances are its a valve or something simple. Call your Vermeer dealer.

Thanks everyone, I will try this. My Vermeer dealer will only tell me to bring it to them. They said $90 a hour prolly 3 or 4 hours to get an idea of what's wrong. We have purchased several machines from them. Will probably never buy from them again. Took 3 days to get a return phone call from them.
