I'm new to the tree world and have a problem with a sc752Vermeer stump grinder. Thank you for your advice in advance. The clutch will not disengage! I opened up the peek hatch hole to the clutch and I can see that the bearing does move back and forth when engaging and disengaging but there looks to be three arms that the bearing leans against when disengaged( may be when engaged ) and the arms have broken pieces of metal on them like they have been grinding up against something ( idea 1) or they are supposed to be starched to the bearing and have broken off which is why the clutch is stuck engaged.( idea 2) any ideas or suggestions are welcomed, thank you

With no other information and if I am looking at the pictures right, your release bearing may be seized. It looks like the fingers that the release bearing are supposed to touch when the clutch is disengaged have worn away because the bearing will not turn when it touches the rotating fingers.

This should have caused awful squealing when the clutch was disengaged alerting the operator to a problem though. Either way it looks like the pressure plate s chowdered and as it sits, will not be disengaged by the release bearing.

New release bearing, new pressure plate, new clutch disc, and get the flywheel machined. If you have an industrial brake and clutch shop around it will save you a few bucks from going through Vermeer.
