Vermont Castings Merrimack RECENT reviews / opinions?

I'm having an estimate done Friday for a VC Merrimack installed. I'm using a local business who does good work, and is less than 1 mile from my house.

The boss (wife) wants the VC Merrimack. Our neighbor has one and is very happy with it. The boss wants it because she loves the ambience of our open hearth fireplace, and this seems to be the closest with it large viewing area.

I've read some initial reviews, but many are a bit dated. Anyone have any opinions after using this model for a few seasons?

A bad rep how? Customer service or poor quality product???

Poor quality.

Do some research on the web. The company has changed hands several times I believe.

I heard that the quality has improved recently. I would look around there are many stoves with a large viewing window.
