I have two sets of pawls from early Jonsereds that I'm trying to identify. These were mixed in with some other pawls that I figured out were from a 621, part number 504645600. These four have the same shape as the 621 pawls but the 'nose' that contacts the pulley is slightly longer. From pictures I've seen of the 601 flywheel, its pawls seem to be identical to these. Can anyone tell me what the pawl number is for the 601? And whether I'm correct that they are different than the 621 pawls?

Thanks!P1190342.JPG

Thanks! The pawls I have are definitely different than the 621 pawls in the nose length (maybe 0.050" longer). I wonder if the part was changed (to a shorter nose) but the number remained the same. All the 621 flywheels I've seen, appear to have the shorter nose pawls and both 601 flywheels I've seen appear to have the slightly longer nose pawls. If anyone can shed any light on this difference, I'd be grateful.

The pawl part #504 645 600 was used on all the old Jonsereds from the lowly 49SP up to and including the 111S. It was also used on the earlier 601 and 751 series, so they had an very long run timewise and model wise. Now it is possible the shape was changed somewhat over the years of production and the part # remained the same. I guess one way to find out would be to swap the longer nosed ones onto a flywheel of any older Jonsereds and see if it works or not.

Thanks, that what I was hoping to find out. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the saws or flywheels, just the pawls, so I'll go with your explanation and call it good. Thanks for your help!

Is the notch in the same place in relation to the mounting hole on both the long and short pawls?
I meant to measure that before got rid of all the shorter necked pawls but forgot to. I believe the 90º notch is further from the closest edge of the mounting hole compared to the short neck version but that is just going from memory. This longer necked version measures 14mm from the center of the notch to the closest edge of the mounting hole.
