recently came into one of these. read that they are desirable and fairly rare. anyone own/operate one and can share their thoughts? i cleaned its exterior, but chose not to dismantle it lest i break/lose anything! starts and runs pretty good. oh, can anyone use the serial tag to date it?

I'm probably off, but I think it's a later model. Serial tells me that it's 1968 - 1974 range.
McCulloch really didn't have a way to date things with their serial numbers.

Now again, I'm probably wrong. Heimannm should be able to give you more information on it.

That is a excellent looking Power Mac 6 by the way!

That is a later version with the wrap around handle and automatic oiler. The very last iteration had a chain brake.

The MDC carburetors can be a problem due to the check valves but those can be replaced. Along with the carburetor the fuel line can be a challenge since it simply form a nipple coming from the fuel tank to mate with the carburetor but I have had success adding a couple of 007 o-rings to the nipple to get them to seal properly.

Looks like you need a muffler as well, no problem as I have quite a few NOS options on hand.

Fuel filter/wock and fuel line. That filter has to be fit through the small opening in the fuel tank and the fuel line nipple worked through the hole in the tank.

That nipple mate with the fuel inlet on the carburetor.

So auto oiler with manual option button. What is the purpose of the access hole near the on/off switch? And there seems to be an adjustment screw sticking out of the lower front.

This hole!
