Folks,

Thanks for being available with a glut of information regarding saws. I returned to a residence outside of the urban nightmare 3+ years ago. I live on 30 acres in SW Oregon with second growth mixed conifers, madrone and oak. I am heating exclusively with wood and having a devil of a time getting up to speed with the saws. Started out with a Jonsered 2150, but am finding it a bit under powered at times, especially with hardwoods & larger conifers. Did a significant amount of brush and down timber removal the first coupla years for heat and fire abatement. I am now getting into thinning of larger diameter trees for optimal growth rates and forest health. My wife is keeping me in check as far as taking any of the bigger sticks (largest Doug Fir and Ponderosa Pine are 2-3', DBH). I am trying to locate a clutch cover for a used 036 Pro in decent shape that I scrounged. Any ideas out there on where I might find one?

The clutch covers are all the same part from 024 through 066 so far as I understand it.

RockyJ- The 036 came with a Rollomatic bar and chain in good shape, 24 " 33RSF-84. The Jonsered has an 18" narrow kerf .325 chain. I have not motivated enough to call the dealer yet for a price quote on the cover. Other parts were reported fine by PO, but only running it assembled will bear that out, I guess.

Dadatwins & glens- Thanks for the headsup with the cover(s) through cheapstihlparts, I had looked at his auctions but didn't realize covers were interchangeable in those model ranges.

This learning curve stuff seems more steep every time I take on a new subject...it seems proportional. The older I get, the greater the incline...

If your saw has the side chain adjust and you use ebay, then make sure your cover has the middle hole for the side chain adjust. Some older covers don't. John

All the covers do interchange but as mentioned earlier the side hole is a concearn. Also some are plastic whereas other are metal. The 1125-640-1701 part number is universal up to the 046. The 066 cover has different part number but appears to be the same cover. Also the 046 and 066 have two different covers with different chip deflectors/flairs at the base. In any event they all do interchange. Rocky mentioned the price from Stihl. it is about $50-$55. They really price those pieces that get broken.
