Visit with Dave Nieger

Dave came down to the shop this afternoon. We had a nice visit, and he brought along some modified saws and chains. Got to cut with a modded 346XP that ran strong, but what impressed me more was his clap trap Dolmar 115i. Nothin' pretty to look at, but it sure cut! Both saws were running square ground chisel chain. I did have to grab my Solo 651 and see how it stacked up. Wouldn't hang with the 115i for sure, but real close to the 346XP, especially considering I was running round filed chisel against the square ground chisel. I was actually surprised at how the Solo did. After running Dave's 115 and talking about mods, I'm back to considering mods for my 115i. It was good time, and got me thinking real hard about trying to mod some more saws. Had good luck with the two Solos I've done, but thinking I'd like to mess with a PS7900.

Something would have to be terribly wrong, or one would have to try really hard, to not have a good visit with Dave.
