What works better (sets more reliably)a short tighter vt say 30" or one with more drawn out braids

shorter, and more wraps, also less sit back

Been stuffing around with a few different hitch cords just got a 3/8 red fleck beeline (hand spliced) been using it in a 5 wrap one braid and it bites every time and tends like silk 34" so there is a bit of sit back
