I guess it is a street tree in Philly...

Si no puedes con tu enemigo…

La naturaleza es sabia, y este árbol de Philadelphia es una prueba de ello.

My guess is sycamore.., think it is safe from chlorosis?

I was going to say iron wood but you might be right. :hmm3grin2orange:

Judging from the buildings and how clean it is I would say the tree is located in more of a historical area close to center city and at any rate its going to start with a permit. Most likely if its not really a bother they won't issue one and it looks like taking it down would be more of a pain anyway.

Well, I ain't no arborist, but I do know this: Whatever kind of tree that was when it was planted, it's ironwood now!

Give it 20 years or so to completely engulf the iron, and THEN see who wants to do the takedown! I can just see some guy who's new to town bidding on that and getting it... :bang:

I'd take the top out then use the stump grinder on the metal.. Gotta go real slow and just shave a little at a time..Start with a dull sety of teeth that are ready for a swap anyhow... The carbide teeth will tear up that soft iron.. Gotta make the price reflect the trouble though...

Daniel will have to find the tree and let us know what it really looks like

Looking at the brick in the boxout, I would probably bid it to pull the brick, grind the roots and have an excavator or Gradall pull the stump.

C'mon John, pulling a rootball out in a city street environment would be asking for it. what else would pull up?

my luck, a gas lane AND a high voltage cable.

I would say just cut it under the fence section. Heck, let Dan grind it, he'll grind anything for some beads and a beaver pelt.:hmm3grin2orange:

That's a interesting one... Cut it as close to the top of that iron, Get the local Fire marshalls ok, drill it full of holes and pour kerosine or Diesel fuel on it, and sets it on FIRE:clap: The only thing left will be some rusty iron..
