Looking for a model XF jonsered saw. Let me know if you have any you want rid of. Thanks

Recently I've been keeping my eyes

open for old Jred parts saws, esp a model 90. As you probably know, the old Jreds seem to be somewhat scarce, or the folks who have them tend to hold onto them. Even the picked-over nonrunners bring decent prices on eBayware. If I notice your saw I'll post something. Best of luck!

Chris J.

The Jonsereds XF was never imported into the USA, so, locating one in this country will be difficult, not impossible, but difficult. I would speculate there are only a handfull of "XF's" in the USA.

A saw such as the XF will most likely need to be sourced from Scandinavia where they are not so rare.

Jonsereds entered the US market in the very late 1960's with the 601, and, even these are difficult to find now !

I have all litereture for the XF, sales brochure, operators manual, and parts list. Copies are available for the price of copies at Staples and postage. They are, however, in Swedish.

My XF can be viewed on Mike's site.

Good Luck !

George, thanks for the great information. As always, your knowledge of Jreds is appreciated. I have a 601 in near new condition. I just like the older red saws for some reason. I think the XF looks really cool. Thanks

I don't really have a saw collection at the moment. I struggled with what saws that I wanted for awhile and now have settled on the Jonsereds. I have a 601, 52, and a husky 480.

George I have a question or two for ya. The model 601 I have came with the original tool kit and parts manual. In the tool kit was a bumper spike in an unopened package. It is silver in color with three points. Would this be the original spike for this saw?? Also in the kit was a plate with screws. The parts list shows it but doesn't say what it is. I suspect it has something to do with sharpening the chain but am unsure. Do you know? Thanks

Wow !! You have the original three point spike !! Very nice !! The very early Jonsereds 601 did in fact use a three point spike and they are incredibly difficult to find !

As for the plate with screws, I looked at my parts list and the only plate with screws I see is a flywheel/clutch puller. That's probably what you have ! Again, this is a very nice find ! Any of the original tools from the 601 kit are VERY collectible !!

Perhaps you only have a few saws, but, what you have is very nice and difficult to find !

A little bit more about the Jonsereds XF. Many years ago I read that Jonsereds had hired a designer named Per Petersen to help design the XF. Per Petersen was also involved in the design of the Volvo P-1800S sports car. He felt that the saw should not just operate well, but should also look good doing it !!

From time to time I do have an opportunity to grab an XF. I have always passed them up because I already have one. I'll keep you in mind next time I come across one !

Thanks George, I would appreciate it. The xf is one of the coolest looking older saws out there. On the 601, I have the complete tool kit in the original bag. Nice saw. As I mentioned earlier, I settled on collecting Jreds. My first 70 sold me on them. There is just too many saws out there to try and collect many makes. :D
