Hi, Folks!

Many thanks to all those who gave recommendations on water heating with the Woodmaster. We saw the added benefit of our wood burning in our electric bill yesterday. My wife was sweating bullets, thinking it would be higher, but it was the lowest it has ever been! Like $50 lower than usual for a non A/C month. That was with the thermostat cranked to 75 deg, the windows open while she was refinishing the floors, filling the 120 gallon water tank of the burner, numerous loads of laundry, etc. Plus, 170deg. hot water to boot! I might have to fire it up again tonight and this weekend while the kids and dogs are here! We are having frost again. It's hard to believe how much power a water heater takes.

I wonder if I can get an energy credit!

See Ya!

Good deal:clap:

Although it obviously uses some power we have not seen a detectable increase in our electric bill with the OWB running. Gas savings are however very easy to see. With our current domestic water setup our gas usage will be zero until we shut the OWB down in the spring. I even shut the pilot light off just to be smug:popcorn:

Running two pumps and the Woodmaster my electric was $90-100 a month last winter. The WM uses about $20 a month. Less if you dont run an extra pump for a barn like I do.

You should have the stove burning right now. No reason to shut it off. Even though this weekend is going to be warm next week it cools down again

My Octopus

Somebody wanted to see my setup, so here are some pics of what I did. I cleaned out the ashes for the first time and got 2.5 gallons using funnel shaped hardwarecloth to seperate out the barger chunk to finich burning.

I've saved about $50 on electric the first month, probably due to hot water production.
