I'm newly married (under a year) and my wife keeps asking me why i won't wear my wedding band. I work in a garage for a living and the tree work is a full time side job. Very few mechanics/techs i know wear rings, but i was wondering how many guys wear there ring while doing tree work. To me there are just as many dangers doing the tree work (if not more) as there is in a garage. But she insists that i should wear it. Any help ???

Tell her, baby, when my ring finger is torn off I will not be able to wear my ring that means so much to me ever again, on that finger to show the world my love and loyalty. Hows that?

Danger to your fingers and damage to your ring leave it in the drawer. At work we have a pic from the royal airforce that shows actual finger ripped right off the bone by a ring caught on something.

Would she be happy if you wore it on a break-away chain around your neck inside your shirt?

I don't wear a necklace and don't know how annoying it would be, but it would

remove the risk and
still allow you to "wear" you ring and
keep her happy.

 Sometimes compromises suck.

:agree2: I'm not an arborist, just a firewood guy, but years ago in a highschool industrial ed. class I watched a video about safety in the shop and rings were a no-no because of ripped off fingers...one example was a guy jumping off a loading dock and getting his ring finger hooked on something (can't remember the details).

I wear mine. I was doing tree work when I got married so I went with titanium. It looks the same as the day I put it on.

She bought me a titanium one too, but i've heard the horror stories of people having fingers ripped off (I.E. My grandpa), skinned to the bone, electricuted, etc........ I thought about the tattoo thing, but them i'd be screwed if i got divorced. Didn't know if i was the only one or what.

When I went to Humber for arboriculture our safety teacher was missing the ring finger. Of course I had to ask. Slipped on a ladder 2 rungs from the bottom and "pop goes the weasel" The only ring I'll wear is a coc% ring! Bada Bing!
