Spike- Question for you Sir, In a previous post you mentioned 2171 West Coast... I have seen this term used by others regarding other models. When I searched the web, all I found different was the felling dogs labeled as heavy duty west coast. Are there other variables that go into the saw that make the West Coast version different from the normal variant? Regards and thank you for your time and consideration to my question.

iam not spike, but the west coast saws come with full wrap and large spikes, thats it.

Some of you may remember my lamenting about the 2172 I acquired. I was trying to find a brake handle for it. The frustrating thing for me is that not only did no one have the part, it wasn't going to be available from Tilton for months. This isn't some obsolete saw from 20 years ago. This is a current production, supposedly professional grade saw and parts aren't available??? That's why I went to California to get the part. He was able to readily get it from HIS distributor. So maybe it's a Tilton problem and not a Jonsered problem. it all comes back to roost at the feet of Jonsered either way. This has definitely soured me on the brand and I don't plan to acquire any more of them. All the parts come in bags that say Husqvarna on them... So why can't Husky dealers order Jonsered parts? (I tried that:()

25 years back when I was dealing in Jonsereds Tilton was the same- always waiting on the next shipload of parts to come in.

because they want you to go to a jonsered dealer. thats how it is out there in the east. husky dealer might have been able to order jonsered specific parts in the past but i know for a fact within the last fews years they can not.

did you try to get a brake handle order from a authorized jonsered dealer? thats a common part that crosses all the way down to the 2071 hard to believed it was tilton's fault and not the dealer, but i dont know the whole story.

The issue is Tilton and their dealers, Tilton does things their way, which is different than any one in the industry. Dealers simply dont want to deal with tilton. Titon does B/O product too often, but everyone in the industry does also. Jonsered dealers tend to be smaller dealers who cannot afford to stock as much product as a larger dealer. Compromises are going to happen and the end user will be left holding the bag. At the end of the day to be a pro user of saws one needs to have back up saws to keep cutting. I sell parts over then internet, that what keeps the doors open, so I have 2 computers if I cant ship off one I can ship off another.
