Hi There, I am thinking of heading West, and as everyone knows, the boys in the West like to put huge bars on tiny lil powerheads.
I dont wish to be left out so I got my saw all already.
Whada ya think there fellas?

That's not an 029, Mike. That's a pro series. Looks like an 026, possibly an 028. The 029 air filter cover hooks up flush to the plastic housing over the moter.

My guess is that it`s a Walkerized 026 Pro Artic(026WPA) with a 40 something bar. Russ

I'd guess by counting the visible cutting teeth on the chain that it's a 36" bar.
Dunno about the 'Arctic' series thing. I live in Florida. Never seen an 'Arctic' series saw. But that is probably why it has that blue square printed on the side cover.

Hi Brian, you guessed it. The Rollomatics are only available as long as 36".
I also use this longer bar for cutting holes in the ice to get drinking water, cause the only running water we have here is the water that you run and get. One has to wear splash pants while doing this though, because once the tip of the bar is thru the ice the water flies off the clutch and gets everything wet and freezes immediately. This is why I like the Arctic models, it keeps wet hands nice and warm.

I dont know if Rotax Robert will appreciate you calling his 046 a "tiny lil powerhead". Come on, John If you are going out there you need serious power. A 009 with a 60" Cannon bar running .404 full chisel no skip.

Yeah, only the 044 and 046 come in artic versions. What are you guys doing running that saw with all that beer laying around?:D Just cut the right stump.

Brian, dont you guys use the Artic saws for those chilly 50 degree days in Florida?

if im not mistaken john just posted a pic of his 026? that was an arctic version. they probably have many more models available in arctic versions in Canada. Darin's right though only 044 & 046 are available in the US as arctics.

Here is the next generation of climbing saw. This is the only saw John Lambert will be happy with. A 084 that is Walkerized, Madsenized and smoked over by kdhotsaw. It sports an 8" bar with 1/4 pitch chain. You can not slow it down in a cut John!
Mike :)

Hi Mike, thats truly a thing of beauty! I really like that 084. They were available in the Arctic model but I havent been able to get one yet.
Out here in the not so Wild East we call big saws with the smaller bars " Stuble Jumpers". We find that kickback is pretty well nonexistant. They are handy also for establishing the first cut in a frozen lake when we are taking out a regulation ice rink, however a "Gopher" with a longer bar must follow behind to get down to the water level before the rink can be skidded out and flown to Toronto by several Sekorski's.
Here's the saw/bar combo that we often use.

Looking at those huge saws with tiny bars reminds me of something my buddy said once. We were at a woodyard belonging to a Southern man of rural descent. As we drove past the mailbox welded onto an old crankshaft and various vehicles and equipment of unique design, he turned to me and said "A redneck with a welder is a scary thing.":blob2:

i hear ya there. i have made soem god awful creations with my welder and most of the repair jopbs would make the engineeer that made the thing puke. like welding spring mounts back on to my truck after they rusted off :)

Hi John, we used to put Viagra in our Husky saws, but it got to expensive so we went to a generic pharmatsutical and got an additive called Mycoxafailin.

Nice 084 lol. John I use viagra in my fuel mix....makes for some stiff competition. in fact they have it in liquid form now so you can just pour yourself a stiff one. Oh yea, never seen a bar that short on a 026 out here, where can I get one ?
