once you get back a little too far, I lose interest.
sure, its nice and big too, but gimme a 880. something modern.
not knocking your fine saw, I just don't want one like it. I can apprecieate the effort that went into building it, and the sweet outcome though.

You would be surprised at how balanced it is for an old brute. Bury the bar, push on it...It will go through!

You stated that far better than I did. I admire anyone who rebuilds an old saw and puts it to use. And, it is a nice saw. I just don't have that "lust in my heart" as a former President would say. Throw out a 460 or a 372, and I have lust in my heart.

Your missing the beauty of this saw. My dad bought it brand new in 1976 and it is from a by-gone era. It symbolizes the high production old growth days where technology was finally getting saws to work well. We will never see those days again, and that is what makes that saw so sweet, it only fell HUGE timber.

Oh, I have no doubt it will run like a scalded dog!

think of my post this way. you built a nice 57 chev bel aire. I however like building 65-75 muscle cars. I know the work involved and you have a nice car, but its just not my flavor. doesn't mean it isn't your flavor though.

Hmm, is that muffler-modded?

You know it sure looks like it was, but no...It is stock. I still have the stock spark plug in and it works great too. Does that say anything about this machine?

Yep. It says if my dad handed down a saw like that to me  , i would hold onto it for sentimental reasons.

I totally hear you, it is a museum or collecter's piece.

I hear ya, I am attached to it, but when you run a saw for a living, they just become a tool. OK, she is special to me, but my Dad was like, "why don't you sell it?" I was like, "Hmmmmm......" I could use the cash for a new 660 and some other tools.

I would have to buy a 880 just to come close:hmm3grin2orange:

That 090 would be one hell of a saw fully race built and piped:dizzy::bowdown: Looks good either way. You might wanna try fleabay if no one here bites.

I own a bunch of the old horses (125 mac,2100husky,xp1000homie,075,066dualport, etc.) and I have to say that in anything over 36" diameter the 090 is the beast to beat. I also rebuilt mine and enjoy putting it to wood very much. The old beasts are just my cup of tea.:D

I noticed that today ole boy, you likem your old saws alot!!!

Remember I'm not done with that mean 090 of yours,LOL

Yep, stock for the "G"... Nothing like the other 090 mufflers...

Well, not so fast...My 90 was one of the few the pimped out here in Oregon in the 70's, BIG dogs for biting old growth bark, (never have seen a set like these on a 90), and lighter steel muffler instead of cast. The "G" model 90 was made for cutting logs in mill ponds. You could run the suckers partially submerged in water. Mill ponds were comonplace out here back in the day. The "Big AV 90's (Aledgedly the latest and greatest nowadays)" were considered a pain in the A#% by cutters back then because of the cumbersome "monkey bar" that came over the top, and the extra 3/4 to 1 1/2pounds of wieght added to the anit-vibe mounts and "monkey bar". You took your 90 to the shop and had the crank shaft balanced....
