Let those knives get a bit dull or out of adjustment, that open-structured drum will bog down with fibers and un-cut stringers. I don't think that is a design that will survive the market.

Some of what i heard on Facebook is that they are actually a decent company and make a good product, but it looks gimmicky to me

Now, that drum design sorta reminds me of a horizontal grinder, those use raw power instead of momentum to cut, but on a 12" chipper you would need atleast 250hp to even think about chipping anything hard this way, even my 115hp cummins struggles sometimes, small bites and let the disk do ALL the work unless im chipping 5" pine or poplar, and my machine runs a properly anvil/knives setup that cuts very efficiently
