I sold a Husqvarna 365 on ebay recently. The buyer says that the kill switch wasnt working properly that it stayed in the on postion. I said let me know what i owe you and i will refund the amount. Well, he emails back and says that the saw is in the shop now and that I owe him $75.00. I emailed back saying that $75.00 seems rather high for a switch replacement. I said that I smell a rat... Not neccessarily the buyer. Will you guys please give me an idea of average cost to re & re a 365 kill switch. Is $75.00 even close?

hmmm.. 15 minutes minimum charge plus a switch? hmmm...

I say that rat is ripe... probably did it himself in 5 minutes.

also replaced a switch on my 365 before selling. seems cost was under $10 for switch.

took all of 5 minutes to drop-in.

Id be embarrased to admit that I had to have a shop install a switch!

If he needed their help he prolly shouldnt be running a saw.....

.

Gotta agree. I replaced the switch on my 3120 in less than 10 minutes and the switch cost like $8-9. So, taking Lake's 15 minute mini, their shop rate is $260/hr. Or, they have a 1 hour minimum to keep customers away.

Something smells, and it isn't cheese.

I know many mechanics that would wish $75.00 for a switch swap was the going rate. Ask for an itemized receipt and call the shop. Good luck.

$75 sounds like a bargain to me, I think you should send him an extra $25 as a tip for being so honest and forthcoming.

I say there is poop in this soup.

Awwwwwwwww thats a easy one to fix. Tell the man to send you a copy of the repair bill with the shop phone # on it. That way you can verify the man is lyer and cheat and send him packing.

What Thall said. I do hate that about selling things on EBAY. Once you don't have the item, the unscrupulous schemer at the other end declares it "game time." Some folks have an amazingly inflated sense of entitlement.

If any of you guys need a switched replaced please bring them to me, I'll do it for $72.50 and save you a couple dollars. Matt

Heres the Facts straight from Husqvarna.

Ignition switch 503 71 82-01 MSRP $7.80
R&R Ignition Switch 2 units (1 unit=6 min.) 12 mins. total replacement time allowed according to Husqvarna Flat Rate Manual.

$75.00-$7.80=$67.20-.62 Tax(@8%)= $66.58 Labor=$332.90 per hr. Shop Labor Rate.

Ask if that repair shop furnishes the Vasoline, or do you bring your own for the screwing you are about to get?

$75.00 Switch repair on a 365 Husky

Thanks for all of your help and advice. I did email the buyer and asked to see the invoice with the shops phone number. I havent received any reply and dont expect to. I plan to send nothing cause i think that this person was trying to pull my chain. I would have gladly sent a reasonable amount but $75.00 request for a switch replacement just about made me spit. And apparently you all agree. Highway robbery...
