yea I see numerous sets of them bad boys for 20-30 bucks not to mention they are the most uncomfortable things you could strap to your legs... I picked up a used set of geckos for 150 my old school set of kleins are now collecting dust in the corner

yea i'm going to upgrade the pads on them to the velcro wrap around straps. thats where they would less painfull so my legs would thank me LOL. i got to give them a nice sharpening and then try them out.

those spikes have done a lot of sitting, havent seen a lot of use
buckinghams dont suck
thats a good deal, i like the smaller pads, most people dont

yeah thats what i said when i seen them so i just had to to have them to use i might just retire my others to my back up pair :msp_biggrin:

that other pair i got has the smaller pads on them .man they just kill my legs so i took some foam rubber and just wrap it around my legs and then strap the spikes on.

The cheapest you are going to find those for in the pawn shops around here are $50. Might find some cheaper on CL or from a rock head wanna be climber who is down on his luck but $50 is the cheapest I have found them for. I got a set for $50 at a pawn shop about 6 years ago when someone stole my Kliens out of my truck. I still use them on deep furrow barked trees (mature Cottonwoods) when I need to use tree spikes. They are the most uncomfortable spikes I have worn.

I picked up a set of like new Aluminum Bashlins with Velcro wraps and pole gaffs a few years back for $75 in the pawn shop. I think they go for like $450-$500 new. Very comfy spikes... If there is such a thing.

keep adjusting them till they dont hurt, they adjust at 1/8 inch intervals, if mine are off by more then a 1/4 inch or so they hurt like hell

geckos are as far as i have found for comfort. the T-pads with tree gaffs on push really hard on the inside of my leg and shift around a good bit. the geckos seem to stay in place really well. less rubbing.

ok i'll give that a try and see what happens. i know with the foam rubber they don't hurt at all and are comfortable because it wraps all the way around my legs and stays in place and doesn't move around like most of the stuff i tried did.
