Looks pretty clean to me from the pics. He says it was only for firewood. It’s a 2011 model. Any ideas why the handle is really faded to a darker color? Is it possibly a aftermarket handle?IMG_5301.pngIMG_5304.jpegIMG_5303.jpegIMG_5302.jpeg

I have seen many Husqy like that. More likely it is the oil, grime and other debris from hands and gloves ground into the pores of the plastic. Plus, spilling of mix fuel all over don't help either when refueling. Not a concern really as long as fuel is not leaking out the seam of the bottom of the fuel tank/handle.

Have project Rancher 55 that leaked out the seam. Got a used rear handle assembly from eBay that looks darker than the original but it holds fuel!

IMG_5354.jpegFound one with the same discolor. And also contacted the chainsawguy on YouTube and he was saying he thinks I’ll be ok

No.

The saw could also be a frankensaw or just the handle / tank replaced. As with any used saw a thorough inspection is in order. BTW, a 395 is NOT a firewood size saw. It is professional timber faller saw.
You don’t go out and find big wood and cut it up?

I’m going to go check it out soon. He says he will take 750$. He says it comes with 6 chains that are in good shape. That’s like 120$ easy in not having to buy chains or spend time getting them

That kind of depends on your opportunities in life regarding the timber you get offered- no point walking past the big stuff to find a log that matches your saw- if its made of wood, it burns.
Or indeed- often the big stuff gets walked over by the guys with mid range to small saws, so if you have a bigger saw and bar you are able to process what others leave behind.
Personally, a whole lot of the firewood I process for myself and others is gotten with 90+ CC saws.

That’s a lot of dough for a used, discolored saw. For $400 more you could have a brand new 585XP with 36” bar and chain from Walkers. Or spend $500 more and get a 592XP, brand new, and you get to discolor it. The autotune is great, and there are guys who’ve cut 100k board feet (youtube) with the 592 with no hiccups. Spend once, cry once. New Year, New Saw.
