When I went to the hardware store I picked up what I thought was bar oil, but it turned out to be 2 cycle mix-duh!
Anyway, I did the math and if 250ml of mix into 8 litres of gas is good for 50 trees, then this jug should be good for 800 trees or 2 years at the rate I'm going.
My question is: should I just use it for bar oil or hope it doesn't spring a leak bouncing around in the truck for two years?

2 cycle oil

I would not use that as bar and chain oil I am pretty sure that that iias not thick enough and would burn your oiler up and your bar and chain. Any chance they will take it back at the store? Maybe give you store credit to get the right thing.

I have been told that 2 stroke mix does not do an adequate job of lubeing the bar and chain because it lacks the stickiness to stay on the chain. But i have mixed this kind of oil with summer blend husky bar oil and have never had a problem. Just my 2cents.

John do you really want to trust that CTC 2 cycle oil in your overrevving expensive saws.

Use it on the bars instead. :dizzy:

John,
If you have not used any of it, I would take it back to Canadian Tire. They are great on returns, simply tell them what happend and they will refund your money.

Hi Dan, I didn't realize it till I had opened and poured, so maybe I just use it on the colder days. Normaly I just use hydraulic oil, but sometimes I'll use chainoil.

Hi Lobo, ya, that CTC stuff makes you wonder sometimes. I used Maxima K2 for chainoil once when I discontinued it's use.

John, personnally I really do not trust that stuff as the cheapest bidder gets the contract.

You can either use it as very inexpensive engine lube or more expensive chain lube. I would prefer to you use it on the bar then replace a crank, bearings, piston, cylinder.

Ah! hell John! that stuff ain't worth a pinch of coon crappola! in a higher revving power plant.
