I was offered a lot of free firewood recently. I went out to the wood lot and grabbed a couple trailer loads of ash and maple, but I was wondering what kind of wood these are. 20170507_151033.jpg 20170507_151015.jpg

Cherry? Cherry I've dealt with is redish and the bark almost peels off like birch. Actually just made lumber last week out of a few pieces a guy hauled up from Oregon.

The pics are too small and blurry to really tell. Also location would be helpful.

If it's east coast, I'd might think it's beech.

Pics are blurry. I was thinking beech as well, or maybe cottonwood. OP location says Frenchie-Land Canadia.

as i sit here patiently waiting the obvious answer, yet it never comes.....

ITS FIREWOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

softwood as it may be, its still firewood if you split it and dry it

The first one is definitely aspen or young cottonwood.

The second one could be a multitude of different species just going by the pic. With a picture of end grain and split as well as the smell we can figure it out for you.
