Burnham, yes I use wedges always, old habits die hard. 7d goes in the backcut right away, just cause thats what I do. I use a rope mostly for looks. It ,makes the client think its being done right and for those folks I work with who don't seem to understand what wedging is for it keeps their yaps shut. in an application like dude did to the pickup, I might have only used my felling bar, but still a tagline somewhere on the stem, also I don't always tie it at the tip.
