Holy Chainsaw! Had a chainsaw moment today, bought a 362XP Special Edition and a 440MS Arctic. Who should I send these saws to? As if I didnt know. Think I will send them to myself, and why wouldn't I?
I'm fast no matter how long it takes.

If you send me that 346 you picked up from ClearH20Scott.I will port it and deliver creeps 999F,your 2100 along with the 346.You can then send the 440 and the 362 along home with me.

What`s the consensus on having a 460 Mag built? Is it worth the money? I`ve got a brand new one sitting here but I don`t want to spend anymore on it if I`m not going to be blown away by it.

The 460s and I don't get along very well. I have ported many of the older 044s and the 046s and they worked out just fine. I ported 2 of the 460s and that was two more then I should have. Both of those saws wiped out the clutch side crank bearing, in a three week time period. I am not sure if it is a lubrication problem or a bad bearing design. I do know that I lost my butt on those two saws, making the people happy. If you run them in stock form or with the muffler opened up they don't seem to have a bearing problem.
Check with Ken or Dennis, maybe they have had better luck with the 460 then I have.

Dan,
Thanks for the fast reply. I know of one of those saws that you spoke of, I figured it was just a fluke. I can say that the guy you built it for has nothing but good things to say about you, especially the way you handled that situation with him. His account of what happened and how you resolved the issue went an awful long way toward giving you stand out credibilty in my mind.

Guess I`ll do nothing with the 460. I am anxious to have you build a saw for me however, just don`t want a built 7900 or 440. What shall it be? Hmmm......

I have built quite a few 46's, but only one 460....it runs great and seems to be fine, but very low time on it...1 hr? maybe 2....including break-in....I don't see a part number change in the 46 to 460, so I can't imagine there being a bearing issue...nor do I see a design change...Dan, you must have just hit some bad luck with those ones..kind of luck that we have been having in BC as of late....it happens...
I am finishing up a 440 and will let you know how that works out..

Dennis, good to see you posting again. Hopefully conditions have improved up there and you are feeling better.

Hi Dan, will do the Keystone Weird turnaround, I can just see the Creep doing the Oleo Mac Boogey over the Falls. Dont let Woods Junky get near my saws, dont want them to catch anything.
My Stihl rep says they have beefed up the crank and casing of the 046, but the 044 is the best saw that ever was made, longevity wise amongst others, 090 comes to mind, 038, 028, but the 357 is a lil gem.
Dennis glad all is well, hats off to Super Natural B.C.

Hi Dan, I'm fast no matter how long it takes. Hope to pick up the 999 and 2100 soon. Wait till you see the 346KDP, it absolutely ROCKS! Mind you, I had to get two Hells Angels to breath down Ole Ken's neck just to get it done. Ken works better under stress.
It sould arrive soon as I couldn't take it on the plane, rather Rotax Robert sent it off to me. I ordered a 13" bar for it, everyone loves it with the pipe, a real show stopper. No one mentioned that I entered it in the 6 cube and under and blasted thru a 20" log in 7.8 seconds. Thanks Ken.
