Hey fellas, I've got tree assessment for a small village council....It about a dozen fir trees alongside the main drag of town....One fell onto a woman's house last year so there's concern....upon my initial assessment I could see one or two removals and some pruning of some half snapped hangers etc...Anyways what's everybody's going rate and does anyone have an outline-format for assessments.... I do have credentials ISA, Dipl. Eco-Restoration, and a Danger/Wildlife Tree Assessors ticket. I want to charge a fair rate (especially in hopes that I'll get the contract not the boys in the orange trucks) but also want to establish a proffessional rate...
thanks

No idea what to charge but think about trying to tie the assessment to the work. Something like the assessment will cost this much of which some portion would apply to doing the work. A kind of incentive to hire you to do the work, yet ensure that you get at least fairly payed for your assessment.

Your council might not allow a contract like that but worth a thought.

Somewhere between $85 and $110/hr. Depending on you qualifications and reputation. There is one local consultant - high profile - who charges $150/hr.

Do you have the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Course put on by Julian Dunster. There is a format for reporting there. I just use a spreadsheet.

Columms
Tree #/Species/ Diameter/Ht/Crown Radius/Observations-comments-defect/Recommendations/Priority/Cost to do the work.

Pick and choose which columns are appropriate for you.
